The article represents a tentative to study the individual labour contract and especially the aspects connected with the cessation of the latter in the light of the Constitution and of the Labout Code of the Republic of Moldova. The author pays special attention to the notions of dismissal and resignation and studies the causes that lead to the cancellation of the individual labour contract. At the same time, the practice of signing and canceling the individual labour contract in such countries as Romania, Austria, Switzerland, etc is described. The way the legislation in force in this field in the Republic of Moldova is being stated and dissected also presents interest.
