The theoretic-practical aspects regarding the contribution period are analyzed within this article. In this context it was made a reference to the notion and connection of the concepts "length of service" and "contribution period"; they were emerged and characterized by type (general and special period). There were also examined the aspects on measuring the contribution period, its way of confirmation. Finally it was made a reference to the rules of confirmation of the contribution period. To write the article there were used normative acts in force and bibliographic sources of various authors who have researched this subject.
