Descriere: This article provides an overview of the pension system in Ukraine. Three levels of pensions are characterized: solidarity, savings and private pension provision. It shows the stages of formation of the legal regulation of the pension system. The study uses statistics on the number of pensioners and the average size of pensions. The article points out the key problems of effective functioning of the pension system. Separately, the author referred to the issue of discriminatory provisions of the pension legislation in need of reform. The overall conclusion of the need to codify pension legislation has been made. And in addition - the unification and harmonization of general and special pensions.
