This study is addressed first of all to experts of local public administration. There are elucidated the advantages of the elaboration and application of job descriptions from the employees’ perspective and from the employers’ perspective. It is analyzed the legal support and there are determined the responsibilities of local factors of decision concerning the elaboration of job descriptions. There are presented and described the constitutive leading elements of a job description. In the completion of theoretical reflections it is presented a model structure of a job description, in the author’s view.
