The famous scholar and specialist in the field of the history of public administration from Moldova aims at the analysis of the role of the Great Moldovan ruler, Stephen the Great in the administrative consolidation of the Moldovan State. Taking “the historical event of epochal importance”, the 650th anniversary from the creation of the Moldovan State, as a point of reference, the author affirms that the ruler substantially contributed to the institution of a personal system of central and local administration, known in history as “the traditional system of Moldovan administration”. Making references to the works by such Moldovan chroniclers as Grigore Ureche, Miron Costin and Ion Neculce and citing Mikhail Kogalniceanu and Nicolae Iorga, as well as the documents which remained since the time of Stephen the Great, the author manages to elucidate the process of administrative reforms started by the ruler Alexandru cel Bun and later implemented by his nephew, Stephen the Great the 3rd. The structure and the attributions of the Ruler’s Counsel from Moldova, as well as those of the most important statesman are examined in the paper. The article is of special significance to all those who are interested in the glorious multi-secular history of the Moldovan State.
