The article by A. Kat is devoted to a very complex theme of psychological characteristics of tolerance. This topic has been studied by many psychologists from different points of view and has different facets. The purpose of the author of the article is to consider main of them and find his own point of view. For him, tolerance is not a passive quality like conformism that allows accepting everything that is otherwise to the norms of society; it is an active position that allows people to find a compromise to build a multinational society avoiding confrontations and conflicts. He establishes limits to tolerance to keep social life safe and not to destroy native culture and traditions.
